Associate or Full Professor of German

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for the Hoyt-Reichmann Chair in German-American Studies and German Language and Culture to begin in Fall 2008. The holder of the Endowed Chair should be a tenured faculty with Associate or Full Professor rank with a distinguished record of scholarship in German-American Studies, a secondary area of expertise in German Literature, Linguistics or Translation Studies, and evidence of excellence in teaching German at all levels. The successful candidate will act as Director of the Max Kade German-American Research and Resource Center at IUPUI, established to facilitate research and teaching in German-American Studies. He/she will be actively involved in the Center’s publishing program in the field, and coordinate educational and cultural activities and exchanges in liaison with the German Program and the Indiana German Heritage Society.
